10/05/2010 | Dell Makes Streak Official |
The Dell Streak is now even more official than when Michael Dell last week gave an informal demo of the device at Citrix's Synergy conference in San Francisco. According to a Dell press release today, the Streak, a 5-inch Android-based tablet, will be available in June across the UK at O2 stores, online and at various brick-and-mortar retail outlets. Pricing and data plans for the UK will be announced by O2 ahead of availability. Dell says the Streak will be available later this Summer in the United States. "The Dell Streak hits the sweet spot between traditional smartphones and larger-screen tablets. Its unique size provides people new ways to enjoy, connect, and navigate their lives," said Ron Garriques, president, Dell communication solutions group, in a statement. The Streak will support over-the-air updates, including platform upgrades, Adobe Flash 10.1 on Android 2.2 later this year and video chat applications. Today's release featured the most complete list of specs that Dell has made public to date. The Streak will feature integrated Google Maps with turn-by-turn navigation, 5-inch capacitive multi-touch WVGA display, 1GHz Snapdragon processor, 5 MP camera, VGA front facing camera, removable battery, built-in Wi-Fi, 3G and Bluetooth connectivity options and 2GB of internal dedicated storage expandable up to 32GB. |
