09/04/2009 | Motorola Brings Agility to Wireless Network Design and Management with Enhanced One Point Wireless Suite |
Schaumburg, Ill. – September 3, 2009 – The Enterprise Mobility Solutions business of Motorola, Inc. (NYSE: MOT), today announced several innovative enhancements to its One Point Wireless Suite, a set of powerful wireless network design and management solutions that help customers and partners smoothly design, deploy and optimize their indoor and outdoor wireless networks. The new Motorola BroadbandPlanner and updated versions of Motorola LANPlanner and Motorola RF Management System enable IT departments and systems integrators to more efficiently design indoor and outdoor wireless deployments, ensure optimum configuration and maximum performance for mobility applications, and quickly pinpoint and resolve network problems. “Wireless networking technologies are evolving at a rapid pace, with next-generation enterprise mobility applications and devices being introduced each day, requiring organizations to stay agile in addressing changing market dynamics,” said Bob Sanders, corporate vice president and general manager of Global Wireless Network Solutions, Motorola Enterprise Mobility Solutions business. “Motorola continues to be at the forefront of innovation in wireless technologies, helping equip customers and partners with the tools they need to ensure maximum wireless network performance and support for both current and future mobility applications.” Motorola BroadbandPlanner Motorola BroadbandPlanner makes network design easy with features such as specialized views that show the best access point for each multipoint subscriber module, signal strength heat-maps, optimal urban-canyon relay locations, and terrain obstruction path profiles. With an advanced RF modeling engine, ability to export design information to Google Earth for easy viewing, and streamlined measurement and verification capabilities, customers can propose wireless network solutions with confidence and deploy them with maximum efficiency. Motorola LANPlanner The new version of the Motorola LANPlanner introduces unique features to provide a more accurate view of the planned wireless LAN infrastructure. The solution now enables customers to easily visualize how a wireless network will perform for applications like wireless voice-over-IP (VoIP), web surfing, file downloads, video conferencing, location based triangulation, and custom user-defined applications. Accounting for the number of users and their locations, the LANPlanner evaluates RSSI, SINR, data rate, utilization, and access point coverage overlap to generate an easy-to-understand heat-map view of application performance. With the added capabilities, the latest version of Motorola’s LANPlanner helps network designers and systems integrators deliver compelling and accurate proposals to customers and build an optimal cost-effective network that can handle voice, video and data applications. Motorola RF Management System In its latest version, Motorola’s RFMS provides customers with several new capabilities that significantly improve IT department’s ability to monitor, pinpoint and quickly resolve wireless LAN issues. The solution offers the expanded flexibility to monitor wireless and wired infrastructure devices from multiple vendors. For network managers, this means having clear visibility into all network components from a single console. Another key new feature is the ability to plan for hardware changes and software updates without the need for local technical resources. By offering centralized network control, Motorola’s RFMS enables network managers to configure and update thousands of wireless infrastructure devices from a central location, while its distributed architecture allows for firmware provisioning over slow wide area network (WAN) links. The enhanced solution also comes equipped with integrated remote network troubleshooting capabilities that allow IT staff to centrally identify and repair remote problems after the installation. It provides them with graphical view of coverage heat maps, channel maps and the overall network health, and offers customized reporting features that can identify non-compliant configurations and network trends, all from a single, comprehensive dashboard. Motorola offers a comprehensive portfolio of indoor and outdoor infrastructure solutions designed to enable the truly wireless enterprise, regardless of the size of the business — from large enterprises with locations all over the world to branch offices and small businesses. Delivering Internet protocol (IP) coverage to virtually all spaces both indoors and outdoors, Motorola's innovative wireless enterprise portfolio includes fixed broadband, mesh, enterprise WLAN and Motorola AirDefense wireless security solutions. With time-proven resiliency, security and performance equal to or greater than that of a wired network, Motorola’s solutions substantially reduce network deployment and maintenance costs, and ensure the availability of cost-effective wireless connectivity in every corner of the enterprise. The result is the truly wireless enterprise — offering full mobility at a fraction of the cost of a traditional wired network. |
